Roses Are Red

"Hurple - To hurkle or hurple is to draw one's limbs in and scrunch up the shoulders in reaction to the cold or in a storm."

This is why violets are blue. It's a little poetic license to allow people to rhyme (because apparently only good poetry does, according to Hallmark) without trying, or having to awkwardly fit in the one old Scottish word that would work. Also, "nurple" (which makes about as much sense as any Scottish or Welsh word) isn't really a thing (beyond grade school playgrounds) - not even for Shoebox Greetings.

And there, my friends, is your romance for the day. #valentinesday
